Just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fully-loaded log truck that had overturned and spilled its load of logs onto the highway at 32000 South Barlow Rd., just north of State Highway 211.

Fire officials determined that a smoldering candle sparked a fire that caused about $60,000 in damages to a home south of Molalla on Friday.

The snows of Sunday and Monday created a treacherous situation for commuters and snow plow drivers alike. A Clackamas County snow plow was towed from the side of Troutcreek Road, south of Molalla, where it slid off the road this morning.

Flames of an undetermined cause gutted a vacant house in Molalla early this morning.

Asked why he chose to drive a Jeep Cherokee into the Molalla River at Wagon Wheel Park this afternoon, Vitaly Chernov, 27, of Vancouver, Wash., said, “I tried to go to Russia.”
But where he will likely end up tonight is in the Clackamas County Jail on a reckless driving charge.

A Molalla man died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 213 this morning, when his vehicle veered off the highway near Spangler Road, south of Oregon City.
Police are on scene performing crash reconstruction and have not released the man’s name as of press time.

The 20-year-old man whose body was found in Gribble Creek this afternoon has been identified as Joshua Wiley Carver of Hubbard. He was discovered by his father, Kenneth Boyd Carver, 46, at about 2:45 p.m..
The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to determine the cause of death.

A Molalla mail carrier was slightly injured after the mail truck she was driving veered off Molalla Forest Road and fell over a 15-foot embankment this evening at about 4:30 p.m.
The driver, Ladonna Scantling, was conscious but trapped in the vehicle. She used her own cell phone to call for help.

The man who was burned in this morning’s fire at the IXL Propane, Inc., facility was IXL owner Bob Cox. As of press time, he was in stable condition in the burn unit of Legacy Emanuel Hospital.
