Virginia Winter, the Molalla woman convicted last November on nine counts of animal neglect, was scheduled for a probation violation hearing today, after Clackasmas County Sheriff’s Office deputies found horses living on her property again in September.
Winter said she did not violate a court order banning her from having animals in her possession. The horses on her property belonged to a family that was leasing the field from her, she said.
The hearing in the Clackamas County Circuit Court that was initially set for today was reset for Jan. 3 at the attorneys’ request. At that time, Winter will also be charged with failure to pay restitution as ordered, for having failed to pay back funds totaling about $390,000 that she was convicted of taking from her elderly mother’s trust fund account.
